• English meaning of consilio by Greg Twemlow

    consilio

Latin meaning "to design with purpose". Greg Twemlow created Consilio for over 50s who wish to take control of their working life.

Did you know there is a very serious problem with the world of work? Since around the mid 20th century, the value of mature workers has been discounted and a culture of discrimination is now pervasive.

If you're over 50 then it's highly likely you've experienced this discrimination first hand.

Consilio is all about bringing people into an environment where the over 50s can see that it's feasible to, "design your life".

Join Consilio and find guidance, support, and like-minded people on the same mission you're on. It's free to join.

  • Archaic Torso of Apollo

    Rainer Maria Rilke - 1875-1926

Having spent the entire poem contemplating the beauty of an ancient Greek statue, Rilke practically reaches through the page to shake the reader, urging us to transform ourselves—to use our rapidly-dwindling time on Earth as wisely as Apollo’s sculptor did.

We cannot know his legendary head

with eyes like ripening fruit. And yet his torso

is still suffused with brilliance from inside,

like a lamp, in which his gaze, now turned to low,

gleams in all its power. Otherwise

the curved breast could not dazzle you so, nor could

a smile run through the placid hips and thighs

to that dark center where procreation flared.

Otherwise this stone would seem defaced

beneath the translucent cascade of the shoulders

and would not glisten like a wild beast's fur:

would not, from all the borders of itself,

burst like a star: for here there is no place

that does not see you. You must change your life.

Born in Prague on December 4, 1875, Rainer Maria Rilke is recognized by many as a master of verse.

  • It's never too late to reinvent yourself. Take it from Paul Tasner -- after working continuously for other people for 40 years, he founded his own start-up at age 66, pairing his idea for a business with his experience and passion. And he's not alone. As he shares in this short, funny and inspirational talk, seniors are increasingly indulging their entrepreneurial instincts -- and seeing great success.
